SAFE-T Family Violence Prioritization Meeting & SAFE-T Fair
We are pleased to invite you to participate in our upcoming Quesnel Family Violence Prevention Prioritization Meetings- a collaborative gathering to prioritize opportunities that address the prevention of violence from the perspective of having the greatest impact on mitigating family violence against men, women, youth, and elders in our community – and SAFE-T Fair.
The 3-day series is a continuation of what we discussed in our gatherings last year as we continue to explore meaningful solutions to interpersonal, family and systemic violence being faced by the community. Last year’s SAFE-T Sessions identified single mothers and youth as vulnerable populations with correlation to men’s mental health, and the following 9 gaps in service:
1. Limited or Inadequate Resources and Services
2. Systemic and Societal Barriers
3. Gaps in Training and Knowledge
4. Fear of Causing Additional Harm
5. Limited Scope of Support
6. Limited knowledge of available resources
7. Limited ability of service providers to identify all forms of violence
8. Service Provider Burnout
9. Interventions causing harm
Through the two Quesnel Family Violence Prevention Prioritization Meetings, which will be guided design thinking workshops, we will identify and refine the next steps in family violence prevention programming. These issues affect Indigenous and non-Indigenous families, people experiencing homelessness, youth, elders, and those who face stigma or discrimination within our systems. As we continue forward, we need the guidance, experience, and leadership of the people who work on the front lines, those who carry lived experience, and the partners who shape our local systems.
Why Your Voice Matters
Your perspective is essential. Whether you represent a Nation, provide frontline support, offer housing or health services, work with youth or elders, or carry lived experience yourself, your knowledge will help guide how we strengthen safety and support across Quesnel.

What to Expect
The 3-day series will take place over 3 weeks in February, where we will host the SAFE-T FAIR between our two meeting sessions, where we are led by Pam Nielson, an expert in Design Thinking, “brainstorming” to analyze what has happened and come up with a pathway forward. We encourage you to attend both the meetings and the SAFE-T Fair in whatever capacity you can however, those attending the meetings must be available for both sessions.
This will be a respectful, inclusive, and solutions-focused conversation. We will begin with an opening question, follow a guided discussion, and document key priorities to inform next steps. Your insights will help shape future community planning, partnerships, and service improvements. The Fair will be a day-long event in which we invite service providers to set up booths so that the community can come together and learn about the services already available in Quesnel.
